According to the Bad Kreuznach State Mobility Agency (LBM), the renovation work on the B 41, Nahe superstructure in Idar-Oberstein is progressing well in the section between the B 422 junction (Modepark Röther connection branch) and the end of the town in the direction of Birkenfeld. The work is expected to be completed as planned on Friday, June 12, 2026.
For the next construction phase, the Birkenfeld lane will be closed between the Otto-Decker junction and the B 422 junction. Traffic in the direction of Birkenfeld will be diverted to one lane on the opposite carriageway at the Otto-Decker-Straße junction. At the B 422 junction, traffic will then be guided back onto the carriageway in the direction of Birkenfeld. It is possible for cars to turn right here in the direction of Allenbach/Bernkastel-Kues. However, it is not possible for trucks to turn right due to the existing islands. HGV traffic is therefore routed via the "U1" detour to the B 41 interlinking route and back again. Traffic in the direction of Bad Kreuznach also runs in a single lane from the B 422 junction to the Otto-Decker-Straße junction.
Traffic is expected to be rerouted on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, and the existing traffic light system at the Otto-Decker-Straße and B 422 junction will be reprogrammed. The new traffic routing will then be in place from June 17, 2026.
The construction work for this section is expected to continue until the beginning of August. This will be followed by the next construction phase at the Otto-Decker-Straße junction. Assuming suitable weather conditions, the planned end of construction for the entire project is October 2026.
The LBM Bad Kreuznach continues to ask road users for their understanding for the expected disruptions.
