BMI bids farewell to long-standing Chairman Del Penner

Del Penner has been active on the advisory board since 2005 and was the spokesperson for the integration advisory board, as it was called at the time, from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration was elected for the first time and Penner then took over its chairmanship. Due to his time-intensive commitment in connection with the refugee crisis and the founding of Café International in the former commercial hall in Dr.-Liesegang-Straße, Penner stepped down as chair of the advisory board in 2016. He remained an active member of the committee. After the election in 2019, Del Penner was re-elected Chairman of the Advisory Board, but resigned from his position on January 1, 2023 for personal reasons. His wife, Jean Penner, was also involved in the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration for a long time.

Mayor Friedrich Marx thanked Mr. and Mrs. Penner for their great commitment to the advisory board, but also to Café International, which has been doing valuable work for the integration of refugees for many years. He presented them with a gift from the city, along with good wishes for the future. Nancy Toro Botero, Chairwoman of the Advisory Board, also thanked Mr. and Mrs. Penner for their good cooperation and presented gifts from the Advisory Board members, who joined in the good wishes for the future.
