According to the Bad Kreuznach State Mobility Agency (LBM), the renovation work in the current construction phase of the Nahe River overpass project in the Otto-Decker interchange area, in the direction of Birkenfeld, is expected to be completed on September 18, 2026.
For the final phase of construction, traffic heading toward Bad Kreuznach must be closed in the area of the Otto-Decker intersection. To do this, traffic heading toward Bad Kreuznach will be diverted onto the opposite lane in a single lane from the B 422 intersection (Modepark Röther intersection) to the Stadttheater intersection. As a result, only one lane will be available in each direction.
Traffic coming from Otto-Decker-Straße/the train station toward Bad Kreuznach is routed via Wilhelmstraße at the Stadttheater intersection onto the B 41 and then toward Birkenfeld via Mainzer Straße (B 422).
Since it is not possible to turn left onto Otto-Decker-Straße from the direction of Bad Kreuznach at the Otto-Decker intersection, the train station can still be reached via the signposted detour along Mainzer Straße.
At the Stadttheater intersection, it is not possible to turn left onto Hauptstraße / Austraße from the direction of Birkenfeld. Follow the signposted detour to the Schönlautenbach intersection and then back to the Stadttheater intersection.
Traffic is expected to be rerouted and the existing traffic lights reprogrammed on September 19, 2026. The new traffic routing will then be in place starting September 20, 2026.
Construction work on this section is expected to continue through the end of October. This is contingent on favorable weather conditions, as the waterproofing work cannot be carried out in the rain.
This marks the completion of the project, and traffic can once again flow freely in Idar-Oberstein.
