At the traffic circle at Schleiferplatz in the Idar district, the so-called Edelstein traffic circle, the road markings were recently changed in accordance with the accident commission's specifications. In future, traffic will only be guided through the traffic circle in one lane by means of a restricted area. In addition, the entrance to the traffic circle coming from Oberstein after the crosswalk at the high-rise stock exchange building has also been restricted to one lane with a border line and restricted area.
The background to this measure is a large number of accidents due to insufficient safety distances in this area. The responsible accident commission has therefore stipulated that traffic at the Edelstein traffic circle will be restricted to a single lane in future.
