Together with the hannsjana collective, it will present the inclusive play “Bauchgefühl” on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 8 p.m. at the Messe Idar-Oberstein. With this acclaimed production, the ensemble impressively demonstrates that inclusive theater is far more than just a social cause—it is insightful, humorous, and artistically outstanding stage art.
What makes this production special is the genuine collaboration in the spotlight: here, a mixed ensemble of professional actresses—some with disabilities and some without—stands on stage, performing as equals on an artistic level. Together with the performance collective hannsjana, they tackle the big, often uncomfortable questions that are directed at their bodies every day. Who wants to have a baby but shouldn’t? And who doesn’t want children at all but is pressured by society to do so? Legislation and preconceived notions make it difficult for women to make their own decisions about their bodies, their sexuality, and their life plans. People with disabilities, in particular, often face severe restrictions and paternalism when it comes to reproductive rights. There is a lot of talk about their bellies, but rarely with them.
This captivating evening of theater changes exactly that in a radically charming way. In a clever, fast-paced, and surprisingly funny stage show, the actresses themselves take full responsibility for themselves and their decisions. They pragmatically negotiate what goes into their bellies—be it cake, beer, or even children—and what should come out. In doing so, the nine-member, thoroughly diverse ensemble deliberately refrains from staging individual stories of suffering. Instead, the women merge into a strong collective that exposes discrimination and exploitation with sharp humor, pure musical energy, and tremendous self-confidence.
With “Bauchgefühl,” the audience can expect a prime example of modern inclusion. The play doesn’t treat the concept of diversity as a mere label; rather, through its cast, it embodies it as a pure aesthetic strength. When different perspectives, bodies, and life experiences come together so masterfully and on equal footing, the barriers in our minds fall away all on their own. It’s an evening that breaks down prejudices, shatters taboos, and offers a completely new and refreshing take on the question of bodily self-determination. An intense theatrical experience that makes you laugh, provokes thought, and lingers in your mind long after the show ends.
