The 37th Idar-Oberstein Old Town Run, which was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, has been postponed. The new date will be announced shortly.
“At a meeting last night, the organizers decided with a heavy heart to cancel the event,” said Armin Vogt, the city’s sports director. The reason is the extreme temperatures forecast for the weekend. “Out of concern for the health of the participants—but above all for the numerous volunteers—this decision was really unavoidable.” On the day of the competition, some volunteers work ten hours or longer. “Given the weather conditions, that would have been irresponsible,” Vogt emphasized. The organizers therefore ask for your understanding regarding this decision.
However, the event is not being canceled, but merely postponed. We are currently looking for an alternative date, which will be announced shortly. Existing registrations remain valid.
