On December 1, 1988, Jürgen Sauer was hired by the municipal utilities as a pipeline network technician. Since then, he has worked with his colleagues to maintain the extensive water pipeline network, carrying out maintenance and repair work as well as pipeline flushing. On January 1, 2007, Sauer was also appointed safety officer.
“The employees in the water distribution network division play a vital role in ensuring that our residents are always supplied with drinking water. When problems arise, they carry out repairs immediately, no matter the weather or the time of day,” Mayor Marx emphasized. He praised Jürgen Sauer’s decades of outstanding work and exemplary attitude: “He has truly made his job his own and was always there when needed.” He also noted that his roughly 28-year collaboration with his colleague Christoph Hahn was particularly special. “The two of them are a dream team and have defused many tricky situations together.” In doing so, they benefited from their many years of experience and their outstanding knowledge of the approximately 300-kilometer-long water network. Mayor Marx also highlighted that the soon-to-be retiree extended his working life beyond the standard retirement age.
Heinz Marx, head of the wastewater treatment department, also praised Jürgen Sauer’s achievements. “He has a pleasant manner and gets along well with both colleagues and customers.” Marx said he has respect and appreciation for the work Sauer has done.
“It’s rare to find the kind of camaraderie we’ve had with Christoph,” emphasized Jürgen Sauer, “we can rely on each other completely.” He had always enjoyed his work, but now it was time to retire. Those in attendance wished him all the best for this new chapter in his life and presented him with a certificate and several gifts.
