From Friday, May 1, 2026, webKITA Idar-Oberstein will go live. The new online portal for daycare facilities will not only offer parents a central reservation and registration option for daycare centers in Idar-Oberstein - regardless of the provider - but of course also all information on childcare services.
With webKITA, parents can find out about childcare options for their children from the comfort of their own home and also reserve or register them online. This means that the daycare centers in Idar-Oberstein will have a modern registration process for childcare places in the future, eliminating the need to register at the individual facilities. Parents can use webKITA to register their children centrally for one or more daycare centers, specifying the desired care times.
The homepage, the information portal and the FAQ are already accessible at the URL www.webkita.de/idar-oberstein. However, full access for parents without a childcare place will not be available until May 1. For organizational reasons, parents whose children are already being cared for in municipal daycare centers have received a code for pre-registration. Parents who are already on waiting lists for daycare centers in Idar-Oberstein will receive a request for pre-registration from the respective providers by the end of April. However, it will not be possible for these parents to pre-register or register for a daycare place before May 1. This means that pre-registration does not result in any advantages or disadvantages.
However, the new software is not only a big step forward for parents, it also makes it much easier for daycare administration staff to obtain an accurate overview of actual childcare requirements in a timely manner. The system offers significantly better evaluation options, which considerably reduce the administrative workload and the preparation of data for demand planning.
