Solving puzzles, solving riddles and laughing together - the latest Pub Quiz Night at the Idar-Oberstein City Library once again proved to be a complete success. A total of six teams with 21 participants faced the varied questions posed by moderator Rouven Voigt and created a great atmosphere in the comfortably furnished library rooms.
Knowledge, creativity and team spirit were required in five exciting rounds with five questions each. The categories ranged from "Culinary check", "Genius corner" and "World and time travel" to "Fine arts" and "Thinking outside the box". The round in which idioms had to be recognized using emojis or pre-recorded sounds - such as a roebuck or a sewing machine - had to be correctly assigned was particularly fun.
Of course, regional topics were also on the agenda: While almost all the teams knew which plant was behind the term "Bettsächersalat", only a few came up with the correct answer "chromium" when asked about the chemical element that gives the ruby its red color.
The "Swan Intelligence" team once again secured victory. As in 2025, last year's winners scored an impressive 21 out of a possible 25 points. Team "Trivia Layen" took second place with a strong 18 points.
There were also attractive prizes for the successful teams: The German Gemstone Route Association provided each member of the winning team with a ticket to the coronation ceremony of the German Gemstone Majesty in October. The Blue Note association gave the members of the second-placed team tickets for the Blues Night with Big Monti Amundson in May at the Bürgerhaus Vollmersbach.
In addition to the exciting competition, cool drinks and hearty snacks also contributed to the relaxed atmosphere of the evening. The consistently positive feedback from the participants shows: Pub Quiz Night has long since developed into a popular event format at the city library.
