On Sunday, August 16, 2026, starting at 10 a.m., classic car enthusiasts from the region and beyond will once again meet at Schleiferplatz in Idar to present their cars and exchange ideas with like-minded people.
All classic car owners whose vehicles are 30 years old or older are invited, regardless of where they come from. For the first time, the 1996 model year can now be included, with classics such as the Porsche Boxter, the Mercedes-Benz SLK, the Roadster with the revolutionary vario-roof, but also the everyday hero Skoda Octavia, which started out as a modern new edition and is still a perennial favorite today. In addition to cars, motorcycles, mopeds and trucks can also be exhibited, provided they are 30 years old or older.
The event is free of charge and no prior registration is required. In previous years, around 200 vehicles were on display, ranging from cuddly VW Beetles and replicas of the legendary Mercedes 500 K to everyday heroes such as the Golf III and the Opel Omega.
Both the organizers and the participants were delighted with the great interest shown at the last classic car meeting. The classic car meeting is organized by Automobilclub Idar-Oberstein e.V., Stadtmarketing Idar-Oberstein e.V. and Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld. In the afternoon, a round trip of approx. 80 km through the picturesque landscapes of the Hunsrück will again be offered for all interested parties. Once again this year, DJ KFR - Florian Reidenbach will provide the musical accompaniment to the event and classic car expert Leonhard Stibitz will moderate the event. With his immense knowledge, he will be able to provide professional information on almost all classic cars. Not only fans of classic cars can see and experience many interesting things at the classic car meeting.
