At the second CityMood After Work event on June 11, 2026, Schleiferplatz once again transformed into a popular gathering place for friends, colleagues, and music lovers. Despite the somewhat unpredictable weather, numerous visitors made their way to Idar to enjoy a relaxed summer evening together. The event series has established itself as an important gathering place for residents and plays a key role in revitalizing the downtown area. The band Happytones created a great atmosphere with their extensive musical repertoire, making the event an all-around success.
“The enthusiastic response shows just how important events like these are for our downtown and for fostering a sense of community in our city. Many thanks to everyone who made this successful evening possible,” said Mayor Frank Frühauf, expressing his enthusiasm for the events.
These after-work events offer a welcome opportunity to spend time together after work, strike up conversations, and enjoy the diverse dining options in the city center. In doing so, they not only enhance the appeal of the city center but also foster social cohesion and a sense of community in the city.

The city of Idar-Oberstein is delighted with the very positive response so far and would like to invite everyone to the upcoming events in the series. CityMood is now taking a summer break before resuming on Thursday, August 13, 2026, with the next after-work event featuring the band L & L Acoustics. The summer finale of this year’s event series will be an evening with DJ KFR on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
