The establishment of the Bundeswehr's first artillery battalion in April 1956 and the commissioning of the artillery training school on the Klotzberg in June 1956 marked the beginning of a close relationship between the Bundeswehr, the town and its citizens that continues to this day. The services at the site would like to celebrate this special anniversary together with the city of Idar-Oberstein and the citizens at a joint event on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Visitors will be given an open and tangible insight into everyday military life at the site. There will also be an opportunity to find out about the work of other federal and state authorities. The event takes place exclusively in the artillery school. Admission is from 10 am; the event is scheduled to end at 6 pm.
