Markus Bohrer recently presented a donation of 350 euros for municipal youth programs to staff at the City Youth Welfare Office. The money came from a revival concert by the band Käft, a regional cult band from the turn of the millennium.
“A little over 20 years ago, the band Käft—which originally consisted of five musicians—broke up,” Markus Bohrer reported. Since then, there have been repeated requests from their former fan base for a reunion. Together with his former bandmate Andreas Korb, Bohrer has now responded to this demand and organized—with a special guest appearance by Martin “Schmog” Schumacher—a one-time concert at the local town restaurant.
“Without much promotion, just through word of mouth, about 50 fans found their way to the Staden and celebrated a great party with us,” said Bohrer. The music—which the band had always described as “Punk’n’Roll”—was played from a recording due to the incomplete lineup, but the vocals were live. Of course, the band also performed their smash hit “Stubbis en de Kobb,” and the fan base proved they still knew the lyrics by heart.
“It was clear to us that we wanted to use the proceeds to help young people, and the JAM, after all, offers a platform especially for young musicians,” explained Markus Bohrer. The donation was therefore presented to Julia Dreher and Sebastian Herzig, who expressed their gratitude for the support.
