The week-long circus camp with Circus Zappzarap in Tiefensteiner Staden is always one of the highlights of the summer vacation program. For many years, this event—organized by the City Youth Welfare Office—has been sponsored by Kreissparkasse Birkenfeld. As a result, Mayor Friedrich Marx, along with KSK Chairman Torsten Rothfuchs and Celine Roes from the KSK Executive Board, visited the participants and watched them perform the tricks they had learned in the circus tent.
“Are you having fun at summer camp?” Mayor Friedrich Marx asked, and his question was met with a resounding “Yeees!” The 85 boys and girls, ages 6 to 12, were enjoying an exciting week. Guided by the circus educators from Zappzarap and supervised by 23 staff members—including both professional educators and numerous volunteers—the young performers were able to try out a wide variety of circus disciplines. The highlight of the camp was two public performances, during which the children were able to showcase their newly acquired skills in the circus ring in front of a large audience.
During his visit, Mayor Marx thanked the teams from Circus Zappzarap and the City Youth Welfare Office for organizing this successful summer program. He also thanked Torsten Rothfuchs for the valuable support provided by the Kreissparkasse. “Without this funding, we wouldn’t be able to hold a number of events, including the circus camp.” The KSK Birkenfeld is sponsoring the program with 2,600 euros and has also provided each child with a water bottle. “I’m delighted that you’re able to spend such a wonderful week here during your vacation,” emphasized Chairman Rothfuchs. That’s why the Kreissparkasse is always happy to support initiatives like this.
