Events on Remembrance Day

The event is organized by the town of Idar-Oberstein and the Idar-Oberstein site headquarters, with the participation of the Oberstein-Weierbach wind orchestra, the artillery school and the local VdK association in Idar. The words of remembrance will be spoken by the Protestant military pastor Karl-Martin Unrath and Lieutenant Colonel Andreas Orth will give the speech before the wreath-laying ceremony. Mayor Friedrich Marx takes part in the commemoration ceremony on behalf of the town council and District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski represents the district of Birkenfeld. The German Armed Forces traditionally provide the guard of honor.

The following list provides information about the place and time of the wreath-laying ceremonies, the participants and who will speak the words of remembrance:

- Oberstein: Ecumenical peace service in the Kreuzeskirche, Hohlstraße 67 / 9.30 a.m./ Ev. Trinitatisgemeinde Nahe Oberstein and Pfarrei Nahe Glan St. Bonifatius / Musikverein 1890 Nahbollenbach e.V. / Military Pastor Karl-Martin Unrath and Deacon Peter Munkes

- Algenrodt: Memorial cemetery, 10.15 a.m. / trumpeter Peter Becker, Algenrodt interest group / Pastor Christine Wild

- Enzweiler: Memorial, 9.30 a.m. / Friends of the local community Enzweiler / Pastor Christine Wild

- Göttschied: Service in the cemetery hall / 11 a.m. / Pastor Günter Wild. This is followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial in the cemetery.
