From June 5 to 7, 2026, the Idar district will once again be transformed into a lively open-air living room - three days of pure festival feeling with completely free admission.
Idar-Oberstein. Handmade music, balmy early summer evenings and an atmosphere that invites you to linger: From June 5 to 7, 2026, the 29th Jazz Days will once again put the gemstone city of Idar-Oberstein at the center of the regional cultural scene. On four open-air stages within walking distance, the audience can expect a hand-picked festival program over three days. Whether virtuoso jazz, cinematic nu-jazz or driving funk - the special thing about it: the entire festival weekend can be visited completely free of charge.
The Jazz Days have always stood for musical discoveries in a relaxed environment where music fans and families alike feel at home. The perfect start to this carefree weekend is provided by a special musical collaboration on Friday: the band "Die Whiskydenker" meets the vocal trio "Die Katzen". Together, they will revive the golden era of vocal swing in a danceable guise, setting the perfect mood for three days full of joie de vivre and encounters in the heart of the city.
Once again this year, we have succeeded in bringing a musically extremely strong and multi-layered program to Idar-Oberstein, which impressively reflects the exciting range of the international music scene. French accordionist Vincent Peirani's Living Being, for example, blurs the boundaries between jazz, chanson and world music in a highly emotional way. Right next to him, the renowned piano trio Triosence provides melodic depth and pure listening pleasure with their lyrical song jazz.
The musical journey continues seamlessly when guitarist Nguyên Lê fuses jazz with Asian sounds and driving rock elements to create his very own sound. The band Nighthawks, on the other hand, create a captivating soundtrack for your own head cinema with their electronically influenced nu-jazz.
In addition to these established names, the festival also deliberately offers a prominent platform to up-and-coming, dynamic acts: the Austrian-German formation ELSA around singer Elsa Steixner touches with profound, blues-infused jazz. However, by the time the eight-piece band FATCAT takes over the stage, massive funk and soul grooves are guaranteed - an energetic sound that inevitably infects and invites you to join in the party.
Culture for everyone - supported by the region "The Jazz Days are a real heartfelt project for Idar-Oberstein. It is important to us to offer this high-quality program in the middle of the city, accessible to everyone and completely free of charge," emphasizes the city's cultural department. In order to secure the carefree open-air feeling and free access for the future, visitors can traditionally support the festival by purchasing the "sponsorship button" and thus make a small contribution to promoting culture.
