Shida Bazyar reads from “The Gaps”
Shida Bazyar, winner of the German Book Prize, will be coming to Idar-Oberstein on Monday, December 14, at 8 p.m. for a reading at Heinzenwies High School, hosted by the cultural association “Die Schnecke.” The event will focus on her novel *Die Lücken* (The Gaps), in which Bazyar tells the story of a fictional village in the Hunsrück region spanning 90 years. She sheds light on the town’s Nazi past, the concealment of guilt, and the life stories of people who, decades later, flee from Iran to Germany.
Bazyar, born in Hermeskeil in 1988 and now living in Berlin, has already received numerous awards for her debut novel, *It’s Quiet at Night in Tehran*, and was nominated for the International Booker Prize. The reading is organized by the cultural association “Die Schnecke.”
