TIME - Time leaps into the Middle Ages
Music can do it: time leaps!
Just one sound, the rough tone of the bagpipes, the pling of the harp, the buzzing of the hurdy-gurdy, and we are already traveling through time, toasting life in the medieval castle courtyard with an old French drinking song, mingling with the balladeers and wondering whether our loved one is still "min" or has long since flown away in "andariu lant".
What do we have to discover on our journey through time? Timeless are the human hardships and the resulting feelings and longings that make the heart leap; it is the pulsating rhythm in the musical work that connects and unites the past and present into a sonorous, timeless whole.
The medieval ensemble, which is well-known in and around Idar-Oberstein, now performs in the courtyard of Oberstein Castle, under the patronage of the Oberstein Castle Association, at the beautiful May time. Nadine Prinz (singing) and Gabriele Werle (recitation) will also be taking part.
The castle choir under the direction of its conductor Christian Kurtzahn winds together recent, contemporary and popular compositions ("Time", 2023, "Kein schöner Land", 2023, "Falcon", 2023, "Lady of Shalott", 1842/1992) and those from the 12th and 13th centuries into a musical wreath. Century to a musical wreath, in which "The Fortress" (2022) is not missing, which, in addition to deep symbolism, pays tribute to Oberstein Castle as a special setting.
