Tree Inspection and Tree Care

Many cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate maintain tree registries and regularly inspect local tree populations to ensure public safety. However, if you notice damage to trees (caused by storms or a severe outbreak of disease) in public spaces—such as on streets, in public parks, cemeteries, or children’s playgrounds—you can report this to the relevant department. This will prompt further action. If, however, your private property has been damaged—for example, by a tree that has fallen from a public area—you can file a claim for compensation in writing.
