Special information for - City of Idar-Oberstein

    Who has to clean?
In its bylaws of 11.04.1988, as amended, the city of Idar-Oberstein has transferred the responsibility for street cleaning to the owners of the developed properties.

    What needs to be cleaned?
The cleaning obligation includes cleaning the sidewalks and the roadway up to the middle of the roadway.

Are there any exceptions to the cleaning obligation?
The street cleaning statutes define 3 cleaning classes into which various streets with different traffic volumes are grouped. For these streets, the city takes over the cleaning of the carriageway and exempts the property owners from their cleaning obligation. However, the owners are still responsible for cleaning the sidewalks, with the exception of the Oberstein and Idar pedestrian zones, where the city cleans alone. The city charges a fee for this.

How is the street cleaning fee calculated?
The amount of the fee depends firstly on the cleaning class in which the street is grouped, i.e. once a week, twice a week or daily cleaning. On the other hand, it depends on the front meter length of the property. The city council sets the rates for cleaning in the budget bylaws.
