Children with disabilities of kindergarten and preschool age
Service description
Kindergarten care
All children have a legal right to education, training and care in kindergarten from the age of three (from August 1, 2010 from the age of two) until they start school. Children with disabilities may also have an additional legal entitlement to integration assistance to compensate for their disability.
In Rhineland-Palatinate there are the following types of offer
- "Individual integration in daycare centers",
- "Integrative groups" (five children with and 10 children without disabilities) and
- "Curative education groups" (eight children with disabilities).
This choice is important for the parents concerned. The individual needs of the child with a disability are determined as part of individual participation planning, which is carried out in close consultation and involvement with the parents.
