In accordance with Section 27 Para. 1 of SGB VIII (Child and Youth Welfare Act), a person with custody is entitled to help with the upbringing of a child or young person (educational assistance) if an upbringing that is in the child's or young person's best interests is not guaranteed and the help is suitable and necessary for their development.
The following assistance is offered (Sections 28 - 35):- Educational counseling(§ 28)
- Social group work(§ 29)
- Educational advisor, care assistant(§ 30)
- Socio-educational family support(§ 31)
- Education in a day group(§ 32)
- Full-time care(§ 33)
- Residential care, other assisted living arrangements(§ 34)
- Intensive individual socio-educational support(§ 35)
- Integration assistance for mentally disabled children and young people
- Taking children and young people into care
These two aids are always initiated in conjunction with one of the other aids.
