Housing promotion: Modernization of owner-occupied housing
Service description
The state of Rhineland-Palatinate offers funding for the modernization of owner-occupied housing as part of its social housing promotion scheme in order to support households in the state that are dependent on public assistance in providing adequate housing.
The owners or those entitled to use the property in rem are eligible to apply. You are eligible if you and the members of your household meet the relevant income limits, which are graduated according to household size.
Funding is granted on the basis of the published funding programs, which conclusively define the funding requirements and conditions, through funding commitments in accordance with the available budget funds.
The funding decision (funding commitment) determines in particular the purpose of the funding, the amount and the type of use of the grant.
There is no legal entitlement to funding.
Information on the funding programs can be found here:
What documents are required?
In principle, proof of the income of the household to be supported is required.
Further information on the required evidence and documents can be found in the application forms of the Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB) under the heading Förderfahrplan.
What fees apply?
A one-off processing fee of 1% of the requested loan amount must be paid for processing the funding application. This amounts to at least 250 euros.
The entitlement to the processing fee arises when the loan application is processed. The fee is usually retained when the first loan installment is paid out.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
The application for funding must be submitted before the modernization work begins.
Legal basis
What else should I know?
For certain ISB development programs (development loans), one-off repayment subsidies are granted in addition to low-interest loans. Repayment subsidies are provided, for example, for the construction, acquisition or modernization of owner-occupied or rented housing.
Repayment grants reduce the promotional loans at the time repayment begins, so that interest and repayment are only payable on the reduced amount.
The repayment subsidies amount to between 5% and 50% of the ISB loans, depending on the type of loan.
The application for a repayment grant must be submitted together with the application for the ISB loan.
