Traffic monitoring

German traffic law consists of a wide variety of different laws.



The most important laws in traffic law are the Road Traffic Act (StVG), the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV), and the Driver’s License Ordinance (FeV).

For drivers of freight vehicles and buses, the owners of these vehicles, and the companies that operate such vehicles, as well as labor and social regulations, the provisions of the Professional Driver Qualification Act, the Professional Driver Qualification Ordinance, the Passenger Transportation Act (PBefG), and the Motor Vehicle Freight Transport Act

Traffic enforcement measures contribute to improving road safety; Traffic checks are part of traffic monitoring. These are carried out by the general law enforcement authorities, the traffic police, and the Federal Office for Freight Transport.
