Applying for an exemption from the obligation to wear a seatbelt and helmet
Service description
In certain motor vehicles, such as cars, trucks, tour buses, or agricultural and forestry tractors, you must wear a seatbelt while driving. If you ride a motorcycle, you must wear a helmet. Motorcycles include motorcycles, scooters, mopeds, and light motorcycles. This also applies to open three- or multi-wheeled motor vehicles capable of traveling faster than 20 kilometers per hour.
Under certain conditions, you may be exempt from the seat belt and helmet requirements.
An exemption from the seat belt requirement is generally possible if you
- are unable to fasten a seat belt for health reasons, or
- are shorter than 150 cm.
An exemption from the helmet requirement is generally possible if, for health reasons, you are unable to wear a protective helmet while riding a motorcycle.
