In Rhineland-Palatinate, all pupils in all grades and year groups at general education schools, full-time elective courses at vocational schools and colleges can participate in the free learning materials/school book loan scheme.
The system of textbook lending in Rhineland-Palatinate is divided into the free lending of learning materials (free lending) and lending for a fee (paid lending).
What fees apply?
In the case of paid loans, the fee depends on the textbooks borrowed. For a textbook used for one year, a fee of one third of the retail price is charged. For a textbook used for two or three years, a fee of one sixth of the retail price is charged per school year.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
The registration period for fee-based borrowing changes from year to year and depends on the date of the summer vacation. It is listed in the information sheet for borrowing for a fee. The information sheet is distributed to pupils at school shortly before the start of the registration period.
