Data Protection Officer (only for matters in the city administration)
Service description
The official data protection officer (bDSB for short) has the task of supporting and monitoring the departments of the Idar-Oberstein city administration in the implementation of data protection regulations. Since 25.05.2018, the legal basis for his activities has been Articles 37 to 39 of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR).
The bDSB has the following tasks in particular:
- He must instruct and advise staff in the application of data protection law.
- It must monitor compliance with the regulations and the technical and organizational strategies to ensure data protection.
- It must cooperate with the supervisory authorities on data protection issues.
- In particular, however, it also has the task of advising data subjects on all issues relating to the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights under the EU GDPR.
Data subjects (e.g. persons whose data is processed by the city administration, whistleblowers or employees of the city administration) can contact the bDSB at any time. He is obliged to maintain confidentiality about the identity of the data subject - also vis-à-vis his own authority management. Mail addressed to him will be forwarded to him directly and unopened.
