Service descriptionIn Rhineland-Palatinate, the basis for the registration system is the Registration Act (MG) for Rhineland-Palatinate. According to this law, you must register, de-register or re-register within one week of moving house. As a rule, you can only register or re-register in person.
A change of residence status occurs when you declare your existing secondary residence to be your main residence and at the same time declare your previous main residence to be a secondary residence. According to the Rhineland-Palatinate Registration Act (MGRP), your main residence must be the place where you spend the majority of your time. This is independent of whether you keep your old main residence as a secondary residence or give it up.
