"I've had a look at the route and there are quite a few trees that have fallen and need to be removed," reports organizer Rainer Hagner from Marathonteam Hagner. He has already informed the municipal building yard, who will take care of it. The marathon team has also already secured the support of the Idar-Oberstein police. To this end, Rainer Hagner and his wife Ilonka met with the head of the police department, police councillor Kimberly Short, and the head of the criminal investigation department, chief inspector Timo Jung. Together with the numerous volunteers, the police will once again ensure that the event runs smoothly and safely. But not only that, the police inspectorate is also expected to start again with a larger group at the stair run. The management team would like to promote this to their colleagues.
As Rainer Hagner reports, around 10 percent of the starting places for the two races are already taken. "That's a good quota this early in the year. It shows that the event is now firmly established in the running calendar." It is equally pleasing that the long-standing sponsors have once again pledged their support for the stair run. Hagner himself will be competing in the Berlin half marathon on inline skates for the tenth time this week. His grandson and son-in-law will be taking part for the first time. "I'm particularly looking forward to that and then it's full steam ahead with the organization of the event in Idar-Oberstein."
