Mayor Frank Frühauf recently welcomed two pro familia employees to find out about the wide range of counseling services available in Idar-Oberstein. The guests were Natalie Kappler from the local advice center in Idar-Oberstein and Sarah Bast from the pro familia regional office in Mainz.
Among other things, the discussion focused on advising and supporting queer people in the region and promoting sexual education in daycare centers and schools. Here, pro familia makes an important contribution to the development of children and young people for children and young people, but also for parents and educational professionals. Topics such as general pregnancy counseling as well as couples and sexual counseling were also discussed.
"The exchange with pro familia is particularly valuable for us in order to better understand the needs of our citizens and to further strengthen the corresponding services in Idar-Oberstein and network institutions with each other," emphasized Mayor Frühauf. For decades, Pro familia has been committed to providing advice, support and information to people in different life situations. The organization offers confidential consultations on site and is committed to inclusive, age-appropriate and target group-oriented sexual education.
The city of Idar-Oberstein is looking forward to continuing its cooperation with pro familia and supporting the important counseling services for all age groups and life situations.
