On February 28, 2026, the annual flea market of the Wasenstraße district took place in the parish hall of St. Walburga's Catholic Church, offering one or two treasures at bargain prices. Thanks to the support of the Begegnungscafé and the St. Walburga daycare center, it was possible to enjoy strolling between the sales tables with coffee and sweets - a great opportunity to simply get into conversation with one another. The many requests for tables had already suggested that the event would be a great success, but this was confirmed by the local people: "This is exactly the kind of event that is needed to bring people together!" was the feedback to the neighbourhood manager, who organized the flea market as part of the Social Cohesion urban development programme. For the first time, this also included wheelchair users, as the desired barrier-free access was made possible thanks to a mobile ramp - a permanent loan from Lebenshilfe to the city of Idar-Oberstein.
