Without the great voluntary commitment of countless people in Idar-Oberstein's clubs and institutions, the rich communal, cultural, sporting and humanitarian life in our region would not only be poorer, but would hardly be possible. "Volunteering is a cornerstone of our urban society," emphasizes Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf. "With a new volunteer exchange, the administration would like to create an uncomplicated way to bring together supply and demand in volunteering." Many people want to volunteer and use their time and skills for the community. At the same time, more and more clubs, initiatives and institutions are looking for support from volunteers. The city of Idar-Oberstein would like to link these two sides more closely in future and thus strengthen volunteering. The city administration is therefore calling on citizens of Idar-Oberstein to get in touch if they are interested in volunteering. This also applies to associations, organizations and institutions that are looking for voluntary support.
The aim is to bring together people who would like to get involved with suitable volunteering opportunities and thus further strengthen social commitment in Idar-Oberstein. Whether it's regular work or project-related support - any form of involvement is welcome.
In future, interested citizens will be able to contact the city in an uncomplicated manner - by email or telephone. Their interests, time available and individual skills will be recorded so that a suitable volunteering opportunity can be offered. Clubs and institutions from Idar-Oberstein are also invited to register their needs. Whether in the social sector, in sport or in culture - the range of opportunities is diverse. It is particularly important to strengthen civic involvement in the long term, to attract new target groups and to improve networking between existing structures. People who have not yet had any contact with volunteering should also be particularly targeted. Under the motto "Join in. Help shape. Together." the city of Idar-Oberstein invites all citizens to become part of a strong network for voluntary work.
