Users of the Idar-Oberstein City Library can look forward to the new generation of Onleihe Rheinland-Pfalz on March 24, 2026. Onleihe RLP (www.onleihe-rlp.de) is a network of libraries in Rhineland-Palatinate. This digital library is coordinated by the Rhineland-Palatinate State Library Center and funded by the state.
The changeover will begin on March 23, 2026 at 10 p.m. and is expected to be completed around noon on March 24, 2026. During this time, the eLibrary will not be available. The fundamentally revised Onleihe platform will then offer many new useful functions, such as the option to extend the loan period for all types of media, cross-device synchronization of reading and game statuses between the Onleihe app and the web Onleihe, an unlimited watch list, a loan history and the eye-friendly dark mode.
To ensure that the changeover goes as smoothly as possible, Idar-Oberstein City Library recommends picking up all reservations that are already available before the changeover. Users should also check whether the latest software updates are available for their devices and whether the devices meet the minimum requirements. Further information can be found in the FAQ section of the eLibrary.
The new Onleihe app 3.0 can already be downloaded free of charge from the respective app stores on smartphones and tablets with the Android, iOS and Fire OS operating systems. Anyone wishing to use the eLibrary with a PC, laptop or e-reader from PocketBook or tolino can go directly to a central library selection via the website https://rlp.onleihe.de/ and then register. Important: The previous Onleihe app can no longer be used after the changeover.
