With a lot of creativity, joy of playing and a large portion of imagination, 30 participants completed the Show and Play Day, which was organized by the Idar-Oberstein Youth Welfare Office together with Kamäleon e.V. last Saturday. The children, aged between 6 and 12, enthusiastically rehearsed small scenes and gained their first experience on stage.
The first round of introductions during the morning warm-up included half-animals, magicians and bats, an extroverted vegan, magicians and hairdressers. A colorful array of costumes also provided for imaginative transformations. Kathy Becker and Jenny Seibel, who led the course and were supported by the two young actors Felix and Emily, brought them along.
At the end, the young actors and actresses presented their results to their parents, friends, siblings and grandparents in a cheerful round of introductions. The audience was whisked away into a colorful world full of ideas and the self-devised scenes provided many laughs and exciting moments. The wig of a resident's deceased husband caused chaos in the retirement home, the crown was suddenly missing for inexplicable reasons during the "Coronation in the Castle", the bank advisor had great difficulty getting rid of a real shark from his office in the scene "The Desk Shark", Grandma Ilse got lost in the enchanted forest and, last but not least, there was plenty of laughter during "The Kirsch family is going vegan - never!" It was a successful and enjoyable morning for everyone involved, during which the children demonstrated their acting talent, courage and teamwork.

Due to the positive response, a new drama course is now being offered for children of primary school age. Interested children can playfully discover the world of theater, slip into different roles and let their imagination run wild. Ten dates are planned on Thursday afternoons from May 7, 2026.
