Thomas Dalheimer joined the German Armed Forces on July 1, 1981 as a temporary soldier. After twelve years of service, he began his administrative work as a civil servant at the Mainz-Bingen district administration on July 1, 1993. On 01.01.2002, Dalheimer joined the Idar-Oberstein municipal administration and initially worked in the legal department of the main office. Among other things, he was responsible for the investigation of maintenance debtors. On July 1, 2007, he was transferred to the Public Order Office, where he held the position of market master for the Spießbratenfest. After a further two-year interlude at the legal department, he was transferred to the municipal building department, where Dalheimer was responsible for determining road improvement contributions. On January 1, 2019, he was again transferred to the legal department, where he was previously responsible for the city administration's insurance matters.
Lord Mayor Frühauf thanked Thomas Dalheimer for his many years of commitment and work. He wished him all the best for the new phase of his life, above all good health. "Thomas Dalheimer has been with me from my very first day at the city administration," emphasized city legal director Julia Hagner. He was the calming influence in the small department and created a good working atmosphere with his positive nature. She is delighted that he has returned there after other positions. "This closes the circle, but his retirement also marks the end of an era." Senior office administrator Wolfgang Petry emphasized that, in addition to his professional activities, Thomas Dalheimer had always been committed to his colleagues and was always on hand with help and advice. This was also confirmed by Iris Rüßler-Görg, the representative of the staff council, who pointed out Dalheimer's work as deputy representative for the severely disabled. With good wishes for the future and a few gifts, those present bid farewell to the soon-to-be retiree into his well-deserved retirement.
For his part, Thomas Dalheimer expressed his thanks for the recognition of his work and emphasized that he had always felt at home at the city administration. "Interpersonal relationships were also always important to me." He still keeps in regular contact with former comrades from the army and former colleagues from the district administration.
