Richard Becker was hired on March 1, 2013 as a helper for green spaces at the building depot. He carried out this role for around nine years before switching to street cleaning on September 1, 2022, where he worked in the Oberstein district.
Ludwig Conrad first worked at the construction depot at the end of the 1970s and in 1987 as part of a job creation scheme and was then hired on November 14, 1994. The trained bricklayer first worked on the conversion of the former town hall into a police station and then switched to street cleaning at the end of 1995, where he has been keeping the Idar district clean ever since. Like his colleague Richard Becker, he was also involved in manual winter maintenance.
Mayor Friedrich Marx paid tribute to the many years of service of the two employees and thanked them for their work. "The employees working in street cleaning do a valuable job for the appearance of our city every day," Marx emphasized. Unfortunately, it is increasingly the case that they can barely keep up with cleaning. "As soon as the areas are clean, waste ends up on them again, which is very annoying." The mayor presented each of the retirees with a certificate of thanks and gifts and wished them all the best for the new phase of their lives. Colleagues and staff representatives were happy to join in the thanks and good wishes.
