Although the weather was not ideal with intermittent rain, the conditions were perfect for the athletes. As always, the Hagner marathon team and its extensive team of helpers had meticulously ensured this, including with the support of the municipal building depot. And so Mayor Frank Frühauf was able to give the starting signal punctually at 11 am for the short run over a distance of 5.7 kilometers with around 350 steps. In an exciting race, Max Kull, who was taking part in the stair run for the first time, won the men's race ahead of Martin Mayer and Tim Schäffling. Karoline Dern was the first woman to cross the finish line ahead of Stefanie Lang and Silke Stumm. For the first time, the start and finish area on the Oberstein market square was covered with a green run-in carpet, which organizer Rainer Hagner had specially made for the anniversary.
A strong field of starters had registered for the main race over 8.1 kilometers with 510 steps, including the two brothers Konstantin and Zacharias Wedel as well as Steffen Uebel, who have all stood at the top of the podium. The three of them then decided the first places among themselves. Konstantin Wedel came out on top ahead of Steffen Uebel and Zacharias Wedel. The women's race was once again won by Sandra Dolby ahead of Desirée Joerg and Sarah Heich. They, like all the other finishers, received their medals from none other than the German Gemstone Queen Vivian Heidrich. During the subsequent interview with presenter Heinz Hofmann, Konstantin Wedel did not miss the opportunity to praise the unique route and the perfect organization of the event. Despite his almost two-minute lead over the runner-up, he obviously still had time and leisure to enjoy the view. Because he also emphasized the unique scenery with the numerous sights along the course.
Between the finish of the main competition and the award ceremony, there was a special intermezzo. Firefighters from the Herrstein-Niederwörresbach fire department and Idar-Oberstein fire station 1 lined up in full gear and with breathing apparatus on the market square and then made their way up the Schlossberg from there. The event served as training for the Schanzenlauf, a special competition for fire departments that takes place in October on the Heini-Klopfer ski jump in Oberstdort. Heinz Hofmann, who moderated the entire event with great attention to detail, paid tribute to the firefighters for this feat of strength. Special recognition was also given to another special achievement: Ilonka Hagner, Ute Jung, Markus Spreng, Leonhard Stibitz and Klaus Uebel have taken part in all ten stair runs to date. Rainer Hagner had beautiful wooden commemorative medals made especially for them. At the final raffle, numerous prizes donated by local companies were raffled off among the participants. Nicholas Fetzer won the main prize: a 25-kilogram amethyst druse donated by Jörg Welsch.
