The new season will kick off on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 7.30 pm with the feature film "What does the lama want with the gun?", a comedy with a bite by director Choyning Dorji from 2023. The menu "Bhutan's Peace Kitchen" will be served in the banquet hall of the Stadttheater at 6.30 pm as a suitable meal. As places for the meal are limited, registration is required.
The plot: The whole world is suffocating in chaos and war. The whole world? No, in Bhutan, a small Buddhist kingdom in the Himalayas, all is still well with the world. Until the king comes up with the idea of making his people happy by first giving them access to the internet and television and then introducing democracy. "We are already happy", the people think to themselves in confusion. They are supposed to learn how election campaigns work while a certain "007" shoots around on TV. The old, revered lama has had enough. He orders a young monk to bring in a rifle and announces an important ceremony. Tension rises in the village, the anticipation is huge. But what does the lama want with the rifle?
