As part of a company visit, the Lord Mayor of Idar-Oberstein and the municipal business development department visited the Persch company in the Dickesbacher Weg industrial estate. The guests were greeted by the two managing directors, Kurt Henn and his son Bert Henn, who warmly welcomed the Lord Mayor and his entourage and gave them an in-depth insight into the history and current developments of the company.
The Persch company was founded in 1885 by Philipp Persch, a master locksmith. As one of the oldest industrial companies in Idar-Oberstein, the company has a long tradition. After the founder died childless, he appointed his close colleague Rudolf Henn as his successor in 1920, who carried on the company name "Philipp Persch Nachfolger" in honor. In the 1950s, Fritz Henn, Rudolf Henn's son, set up the production of diamond cutting wheels for local gemstone cutters, which laid the foundation for the later specialization in diamond tools.
In 2003, the company moved from downtown Idar-Oberstein to the Dickesbacher Weg industrial estate, where 23 employees work today. The company has continued to develop and today serves a Europe-wide customer base. Persch offers a wide range of electroplated grinding tools, which are mainly used in the glass and ceramics industry as well as in gemstone processing. These tools are characterized by high removal rates and low grinding pressures, as the abrasive grain is attached to the tool carriers with electrolytically deposited nickel. A very innovative area is the production of special tools, which are adapted to the specific requirements of the customer. Persch also produces cut-off wheels, grinding wheels and milling cutters up to a diameter of 500 mm and beyond on request.
An outstanding sign of the company's future viability is the integration of two new female trainees in the field of mechanical professions, which is considered rather atypical in this industry. This shows Persch's commitment to opening up new perspectives and actively counteracting the shortage of skilled workers.

"It is an impressive example of tradition and innovation," said the Lord Mayor, "the Persch company combines masterful craftsmanship with modern production techniques and thus makes a significant contribution to regional economic strength." The two managing directors, Kurt and Bert Henn, emphasized the importance of quality and individual advice, which have always been the company's trademark. "Individual advice is a top priority for us," emphasized Bert Henn, referring to the high level of customer orientation that enables the company to always offer tailor-made solutions.
