From November 3, 2025, the works of Swiss artist Carmen Heidi Kroese will be on display in the foyer of the Idar-Oberstein city administration. In an impressive exhibition, the artist presents more than 20 large-format works created in oil, acrylic and mixed media. The exhibition offers a fascinating insight into Carmen Kroese's diverse and powerful visual language and reflects her artistic exploration of the most diverse themes in life.
Carmen Kroese has lived and worked in the gemstone town of Idar-Oberstein since 2019, where she quickly established herself in the local art scene. As an active member of the Obere Nahe Art Association, she has organized numerous exhibitions and further expanded her artistic presence in the region. The exhibition in the Stadthaus Idar-Oberstein is now a significant milestone in her work.
Carmen Kroese first studied interior design in Switzerland and then art and painting. In her artistic work, she pursues the goal of capturing the beauty and intactness of this world while at the same time drawing attention to the most pressing global problems. Her paintings address both nature and the pressing environmental problems caused by the mistreatment of our planet, as well as the devastating effects of wars and the terrible fates of children in conflict regions. Despite these serious themes, an optimistic attitude and the joy of life always predominate in her work.
In her painting, Kroese prefers figurative representation, which she often abstracts or combines with abstract backgrounds. Her paintings are characterized by bright colors that radiate immense power and energy. Continuous experimentation with different techniques and materials often leads to astonishing and exciting results.
A central theme in Kroese's works are animals and people, whose feelings and fates she visualizes in an impressive way. With her pictures, the artist aims to arouse emotions, stimulate reflection and spread joy. The works fascinate through the skillful use of light and shadow, the combination of concrete representations and abstract elements as well as the scope offered by complementary colors and structures. Contrasts and dualities run like a red ribbon through her entire oeuvre.
Carmen Kroese has already received several awards for her outstanding artistic work. In 2023, she was honored with the title "Artist of the Year 2022" at an international competition in California (USA). Her works can be found in public and private collections in various countries, including the USA, Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy and Poland. The exhibition at Stadthaus Idar-Oberstein offers a unique opportunity to experience Carmen Kroese's artistic vision up close and to be inspired by her powerful, emotional images.
- The exhibition can be viewed until February 25, 2026, Monday to Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the foyer of the city administration (Georg-Maus-Straße 1).
