The audience can forget the worries of the world for a short while and surrender to their most wistful dreams. So that afterwards they can face reality again with renewed vigor.
We're all familiar with it at the moment: we open the newspaper, open the computer, turn on the TV or turn on the radio - and despair at the same moment as all these channels try to convince us that the end of the world is imminent. Environmental disasters, war and terror wherever you look. And as if there weren't already enough horrors on our globe, Christmas comes around every year.
Invitations to buy on every corner, consumer and mulled wine frenzy, fairy lights and decoration irritations for the overstrained eye. Hearts completely out of tune and ears mostly defencelessly exposed to the environment, relentlessly bombarded with acoustic phenomena that conjure up cold beads of panic sweat on the forehead.
Who wouldn't want to completely disconnect from the global Christmas machinery? Escape into the perfect world of the most beautiful hits of the 50s and 60s by Caterina, Vico, Connie and Peter, Udo and, of course, Peter the Great? Because: if it's kitsch, then please make it really valuable - pop therapy, so to speak. And one thing is promised in advance: politics, Florian Silbereisen, Helene Fischer and Andreas Gabalier must stay outside.
