The scent of mulled wine, the sound of Christmas carols and a festively illuminated Schleiferplatz: from December 11 to 13, 2025, the Idar-Oberstein district of Idar will be transformed into a true winter wonderland. The "Idar-Oberstein Advent Glow" is entering its second round and promises to take visitors on an enjoyable and unforgettable journey into the Advent season. The anticipation is palpable! The festively decorated market on Schleiferplatz will once again be the center of Christmas magic this year. A pure pleasure market with a varied program that will make the hearts of young and old alike beat faster.
Opening with heart and music
The adventure begins on Thursday, December 11, at 5 p.m. with a festive opening by Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf and the city's business development department. Afterwards, the well-known DJ KFR alias Flo Reidenbach will provide the perfect background music to get guests into the pre-Christmas mood. An excellent opportunity to ring in the festive season with colleagues at a "Winter After Work".
A magical program for young and old
Friday, December 12, starts at 2 p.m. with the festively decorated Christmas market stalls offering a variety of treats and Christmas drinks. There will be special highlights for guests of all ages on this day: From 3:30 to 4:30 pm, the Gemstone Queen will be visiting - ready to sign autographs and take unforgettable selfies. Afterwards, the "Idar-Obersteiner Bachwagge" will create a nostalgic atmosphere with their traditional Christmas program. Then it's "music and dance": the Happy Tones will get the Schleiferplatz shaking until 9 pm!
On Saturday, December 13, things will be just as colorful. From 2 p.m., dance and music performances invite visitors on a festive journey through Advent. Especially for families, there is a special Christmas activity for children, organized by Sabrina Hoffmann, and at 3 p.m. things get magical: the ice queens Anna and Elsa perform as walk acts - a real highlight for all Disney fans!
Culinary delights and sustainable enjoyment
Of course, there is also plenty to enjoy: A variety of treats await at the market, providing the perfect blend of traditional and new. From hot mulled wine and "Hot Aperol" to glögg, warm gin and non-alcoholic drinks - everyone will find their favorite beverage here. The culinary selection ranges from traditional waffles and crêpes to hearty dishes such as langos, stuffed dumplings, potato pancakes and roast potatoes. Of course, Idar's local gastronomy is also looking forward to welcoming many guests. Of course, the cups collected in advance will be used at the event. There will also be a central washing-up area to ensure sustainability.

Advent glitter - a celebration of the art of jewelry
Saturday, December 13, also offers a special highlight: under the motto "Advent sparkle", five jewelry designers from the Idar district will be opening their studios. From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., visitors can discover exquisite pieces of jewelry in the workshops of Andrea Sohne (Kiesstraße 28), Ulrike Weyrich together with jewelry designer Ester Ackermann (Hauptstraße 72), Gaby Wandscher (Ginsterweg 1) and Wolfgang Wild (Hauptstraße 24) - perfect for Christmas gifts and the search for unique gems.
