Organized by the neighbourhood management and urban planning, the festival was supported by a network of participating institutions, associations and volunteers from the neighbourhood.
The festival was opened by Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf and Mayor Friedrich Marx. In his welcoming address, the Lord Mayor emphasized "that the city of Idar-Oberstein is proud to be part of the federal and state programme "Social Cohesion - Socially Integrative City" with the Wasenstrasse district. And, "that it is our common goal to strengthen coexistence, promote diversity and make the neighborhood a place where everyone feels at home - regardless of age, origin or social background."
A special highlight this year was the visit of the German gemstone queen Vivian Heidrich. Each child was able to choose a gemstone from her treasure chest and she also offered a photo and autograph session. The visitors experienced a varied program for young and old. The St. Walburga daycare center offered face painting and the daycare center social work offered tattoos for children. The offer was supplemented by painting with henna and glitter tattoos.
In addition to an exercise game, TV-Oberstein also offered numerous pieces of play equipment for free use, which many visitors were happy to take advantage of.
The festival was colorful and entertaining, but also informative and forward-looking. Idar-Oberstein's urban planning department was represented by three employees and presented the current neighborhood square planning to citizens in individual and group discussions during the event. The preliminary draft and several detailed excerpts from the draft planning, which were created by the commissioned planning office BBP, served as the basis. The plans were co-developed through public participation with interested parties from the neighborhood.
The AWB's new environmental educator, Carmen Grasmück, also provided interesting facts about waste separation and environmental education in a fun way. The members of the Advisory Board for Migration and Integration provided information about the Integreat app for the Birkenfeld district and handed out colorful helium balloons to the children.
A varied range of food and drinks was also on offer. The Wurzelwerk daycare center sold coffee and delicious cakes. The Begegnungscafé set up a barbecue and drinks stand with volunteers, which TV-Oberstein supported by ordering the goods.
This year, the festival was also supplemented with a small flea market, which was also very well received. The organizers would like to thank everyone who helped make the festival a lively event.
