But ten teams with 57 active cyclists (as of May 13, 2025) have already registered. Nevertheless, there is of course still room for improvement, as last year there were 189 participants in 19 teams.
From June 23 to July 13, 2025, the city of Idar-Oberstein is taking part in CITY CYCLING, the international competition organized by Climate Alliance. During this period, all citizens are called upon to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible. In doing so, they collect kilometers for the municipality and do something for more climate protection and better cycling promotion.
The aim of CITY CYCLING is to cycle as many kilometers as possible, both privately and professionally, to promote cycling, protect the climate and improve the quality of life in municipalities. The campaign aims to sensitize citizens to cycling in everyday life and to bring the topics of bicycle use and bicycle traffic planning more strongly into local parliaments.
Anyone who lives or works in Idar-Oberstein, is active in a local association or attends a school or university can take part. Participants can now register online, join an existing team or set up their own team. A person who founds a new team is automatically the team captain.
