Citymood & Friends - The city center celebrates a colorful finale!

Three years full of creative ideas, committed campaigns and a common goal: to make our town centers in Idar and Oberstein vibrant, attractive and fit for the future. Since 2022, the city of Idar-Oberstein has been working intensively on the further development of its two city centers as part of the federal program "Sustainable inner cities and centers" - now it's time to take stock and celebrate together!

With the City Mood project, a diverse action program was launched that has left its mark: whether it was colourful flower decorations, thorough cleaning campaigns, atmospheric after-work events or a pop-up store - the cityscape was revitalized in a variety of ways. The numerous projects and events have shown how much potential there is in our city centers - and how much passion the citizens invest in their city.

To mark the end of this eventful period, the city's economic development department cordially invites all citizens to the big closing party "Citymood & Friends" on Saturday, September 13, 2025. From 2 p.m., the Idar pedestrian zone will be transformed into a cheerful festival mile for young and old, with creative hands-on activities for families, performances by children for children and culinary delights. The day will not only be a time to look back, but also to look ahead: a platform will be set up for the exchange of ideas and the networking of stakeholders.

To ensure that the festival is a complete success, clubs, groups and committed citizens are cordially invited to participate with their own ideas or stands. Some have already registered. That is very pleasing. We are still looking for food and drink stands, activities for children and families from 2 to 5 pm, children's program contributions such as songs, performances or hands-on activities from 2 to 4 pm. The business development team would be delighted to receive further creative ideas and lots of helping hands.

By working together with the stakeholders in the city centers, it will be possible to carry the positive momentum beyond the funding period. "Citymood & Friends" - will be a festival that unites, a day full of joie de vivre, encounters and community - for our city and all those who love it. The many players who have helped to make the inner cities more liveable over the past three years are looking forward to an unforgettable festival and to many people who want to have a positive influence on this day and beyond.

In addition, the "Heimatshoppen" campaign of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce is taking place this weekend. "That fits very well," say Christina Schwardt, Managing Director of the IHK and her colleagues from the business development department. Under the motto "Heimatshoppen und City Mood - erst schoppen dann Feiern", it would be great if the local stores would adjust their opening hours.

It is still possible to register to take part in Heimatshoppen. The IHK provides participants with the relevant promotional material for Heimatshoppen.
