As part of the "Kunst im Stadthaus" exhibition series, photographer Christopher Norman Schickling from Mörschied presents his impressive nature and animal photographs.
Until the end of October 2025, visitors can immerse themselves in the quiet beauty of the animal world in the foyer of the city administration - captured with a great sense of light, perspective and emotion. Schickling's pictures not only show animals, they tell stories, arouse amazement and create closeness to nature.
From childhood memory to passion
The 38-year-old Schickling, who was born in Simmern and grew up in Kirchberg and Bad Kreuznach, came into contact with photography at an early age: at just eight years old, he captured his first moments with his grandfather's Leica. After a long break - triggered by the death of his grandfather - his passion was rekindled when he took his first nature shots for social media with a bridge camera in 2011. What began as a hobby quickly developed into a passion: over 500,000 photos have been taken in recent years - from macroscopic insects to majestic wild animals. Today, Schickling officially runs photography as a side business, also photographing weddings and portraits for family, friends and acquaintances - but nature remains his central motif.
One look - and you're right in the middle of it
The exhibition in the Stadthaus shows a selection of his best works - impressive, full of detail and with a clear eye for the essentials. "Photographing animals means having patience, observing, being respectful - and pressing the shutter release at the right moment," says Schickling about his way of working.
