As a digital companion, the Idar-Oberstein app offers citizens and guests alike up-to-date information about the city of Idar-Oberstein. The introduction of the app was financed by the federal program 'Sustainable inner cities and centers'. "The introduction of the app is a further building block in the implementation of our digital strategy," explained Mayor Frühauf at the launch. "This means that the numerous online services that are already available on our website can also be used directly in the app."

The basic version of the app has the following functionalities, which can be expanded with additional add-ons:

News & Events: Whether news from the town hall, current events from culture, clubs and politics - the app keeps users up to date at all times.

eTown Hall: All departments, employees, services and meeting information at a glance - this is possible with the app. You can also find all the latest information from the town hall directly there.

Weather: Current daily weather or forecast for the next few days - the app shows at a glance whether you need an umbrella or a sun hat.

Warnings: The app provides information about current federal disaster warnings for Idar-Oberstein. Push notifications are also sent depending on the warning level.

Emergency services & pharmacies: In an emergency, quickly find the most important emergency numbers and find out which pharmacy is on emergency duty. Emergency pharmacies can be called directly from the app, and direct navigation to the pharmacy is also possible.

Places & contacts: What can I find where? And who is the contact person in associations and institutions? This data is clearly arranged in categories and can be called up directly.
