Civic festival for National Veterans Day

Civic festival for National Veterans Day
Citizens and soldiers celebrate together
The artillery school and the city of Idar-Oberstein are organizing a civic festival on Schleiferplatz in the Idar district from 10.30 am to around 3 pm. The reason for the celebration is National Veterans Day, which from 2025 will be an annual event to honor the commitment and service of active and former soldiers. This event is also intended to intensify the sponsorship between the artillery school and the city of Idar-Oberstein and create space for encounters between citizens and soldiers. Musical entertainment will be provided by the Musikverein 1861 Idar-Oberstein and later by the Hunsrück DJs. The commander of the artillery school, Colonel Olaf Tuneke, and Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf cordially invite all citizens to attend the event.
Veterans' Day begins at 10.30 a.m. with a church service with military pastor Karl-Martin Unrath, followed by the official opening of the event by Colonel Olaf Tuneke and Lord Mayor Frank Frühauf. The Musikverein 1861 Idar-Oberstein will be playing from 12 noon and the Hunsrück DJs will be playing from around 1.30 pm. The physical well-being of the guests will also be well catered for: in addition to cool drinks, there will be delicious pea soup from the Bundeswehr and barbecued food.
