Voting at the polling station
The polling stations in the individual districts are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on election day. Voters can find the polling station responsible for their place of residence on the front of the polling card in the box at the top right.
Voting by postal vote
Voters can cast their vote in advance by postal vote. The following options are available for applying for postal voting documents:
- Online application: The digital procedure for applying for postal voting documents is available at the link https://tbk.ewois.de/IWS/startini.do?mb=198 until Tuesday, March 17, 2026, 9 a.m. The link can also be found on the homepage of the municipal website at www.idar-oberstein.de.
- Application with the voter's notification: On the back of the polling card there is a personalized application for postal voting documents for each person entitled to vote. This can be completed and sent to the electoral office.
- Application by e-mail: Postal votes can also be requested by sending an email to briefwahl@idar-oberstein.de. The applicant's first name, surname, address and date of birth must be stated in the e-mail. It is not possible to apply for postal voting documents by telephone!
- Application and voting in the postal voting office: The postal voting office of the Idar-Oberstein municipal administration is located at Georg-Maus-Straße 2, room II.004 (glass box). It is open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 noon and from Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 4 pm. On Friday, March 20, 2026, the postal voting office will be open until 3 pm. Postal voting documents can be requested here in person, and voting on site is also possible. The acceptance of postal voting documents for other persons requires a corresponding power of attorney.
Important: Due to the postal delivery times for both the sending of postal voting documents and the return of ballot papers, postal voting documents should be collected from or returned to the administration in person from Tuesday, March 17, 2026, if possible. If postal voting documents have been requested and not delivered, this must be reported to the electoral office by Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 12 noon at the latest.
- If you have any further questions, please contact the electoral office on 06781/64-1113 or send an e-mail to wahlamt@idar-oberstein.de.
