The following options are available for applying for postal voting documents:
- Online application with OLIWA: The digital procedure for applying for postal voting documents will be activated from Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The corresponding link will be published on the homepage of the municipal website www.idar-oberstein.de from the time of activation.
- Application with the voter's notification: On the back of the polling card there is a personalized application for postal voting documents for each person entitled to vote. This can be completed and sent to the electoral office. The election notifications should be sent to eligible voters by Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the latest.
- Application by e-mail: Postal votes can also be requested by sending an email to briefwahl@idar-oberstein.de. The applicant's first name, surname, address and date of birth must be stated in the e-mail. It is not possible to apply for postal voting documents by telephone!
- Application and voting in the postal voting office: From Monday, February 23, 2026, the postal voting office of the Idar-Oberstein city administration in Georg-Maus-Straße 2, room II.004 (glass box), will be available again. It is open from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 12 noon and from Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 4 pm. Postal voting documents can be applied for in person here, and it is also possible to vote on site. Important: The collection of postal voting documents for other persons requires a corresponding power of attorney.
If postal voting documents have been requested and not delivered, this must be reported to the electoral office by Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 12 noon at the latest.
